About us

I was inspired to found Wanita’s Table after a serious health scare. After years of bad nutrition and high stress in the restaurant industry, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I knew I needed a radical change if I was going to turn things around. I started by making some serious adjustments to my diet, and in so doing, I was able to completely reverse my diabetes diagnosis. It was a really eye-opening introduction to the importance and power of good, wholesome food. It was also soon very apparent that tasty, wholesome food (especially preserves, chutneys and other interesting condiments) are not that easy to find! So I began making them for myself, my family and friends. This was the inspiration for the development of Wanita’s Table. My dad & business partner also has a type 2 diabetes diagnosis & we are currently on the journey of reversing his diagnosis.

All our products are crafted from organically-grown produce, vegan- and diabetic-friendly with no added sugar,colourants or preservatives. We aim to bring these delicious HEALTHY flavours to the public at an affordable price, making tasty nutrition accessible to anyone. Our products are the perfect way to add flavour and colour to any dish, making even the most “boring” healthy meal a mouth-watering favourite. We hope this will encourage people to explore a more healthy way of eating without compromising on taste.

Quince Jelly

Quince also know as a Kweper in Afrikaans. Grows in a similar way to apples & pears on a tree. The fruit lacks immediate beauty & is bitter when you try and eat it raw ( we do not even recommend that you try) It has a very hardly fresh & the inside will resemble your shower sponge. So what makes this ugly looking, nasty textured fruit so special?

 

If you had to take a raw ripe quince and place it on your windowsill in your home, you will notice that your whole room will suddenly start smelling like apples, vanilla & citrus. This is the first clue that this magically fruit has something wonderful hiding inside it. 

If you know how to treat this fruit correctly and you show it some respect, it has a beautiful sweetness much like honey which it will reward you with. The second clue is that when you cook your quince, the ugly white/ yellow flesh with change into a magically deep rose pink.

Our delicious quice jelly pairs really well with a cheese board, pork & baked goods such as scones.

Tabasko Sauce

Our Tabasko sauce is made with our very own organically grown peppers. Our peppers are grown in tunnels using only drip irrigation thus minimizing our water usage.

Our Tabasko sauce is great a great accompaniment on pizza, pasta, vegetable and anything else that might need a little extra kick.
